About
Our intention with this blog is to publish the many letters and essays that Rosalie composed when we were traveling as full Time Rv’ers. Friends and family have been encouraging Rosalie to write a book about the experience based on the essays and letters that she mailed back home. This blog seems easier than putting a book together. The postings may be weekly; may be random.
The actual time period was October 1995 to September 1996. Rosalie’s essays were based on activities and events seen as we traveled and specific observations that are based on the locations. And there were many characters that were encountered in the parks; the people, like us, staying there; and the various park Rangers that we met and had the pleasure to work with
Traveling in a Free-Spirit travel trailer pulled by a Chevrolet Suburban, we occasionally stayed in a motel for creature comforts. We packed far too much weight, but we had toys that we had to have; camera equipment, a small printer, a laptop computer, a tabletop computer, a small television, and two bicycles.
The trip started on the Buffalo River in Arkansas where we were serving as campground hosts. From there the route was westward, up the west coast, then flying to Alaska where we stayed for three weeks. Flying back to Wasington, we wandered east through the northern states, and finally back south to Missouri.
We stayed in some big parks; Denali, and Yellowstone; as well as many small park
Many memories that Rosalie will share with you.
